Primary Resources

 

 

The primary resources offered by the agency are Counselling and Community Services, In-Home Family Support and Family Education, Family Child Care Resources, Information and Referral, Education, Employee Assistance, Families and Schools Together Canada, Family Preservation.  Special grants enable the agency to respond to changing community needs by creating and piloting new innovative services.

Diversity and Outreach

 

The Family Centre  is committed to ensuring that our board, staff and clientele reflect the community at large.  Over 150 employees speak 25 different languages and represent over 45 ethnic groups.  Our clients reflect over 110 ethnic groups.  Eighty percent of our services are community based.  Our services are available to everyone regardless of age, culture, religion or sexual orientation.  Over 100 volunteers help support our services each year.

Our Board

The agency is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of community representatives who are elected at an Annual General Meeting  in June of each year.  The Board of Directors is responsible for the formulation of  agency policies concerning management, fiscal control, and nature of the service provided.  It is responsible for ensuring that sufficient funds are provided to finance the agency.  The Family Centre adheres to the Carver Model of Governance which emphasizes a focus on strategic leadership; a focus on the future rather than the past or present; pro-activity rather than reactivity; and a clear distinction of Board and staff roles.

Endowment & Memorial Fund

 

 

The Endowment and Memorial Fund was established in 1993 to assist at-risk children and their families, to protect children from violence, drugs and prostitution, and to honour the memory of special friends of The Family Centre.  The monies donated to this fund are in trust with The Winnipeg Foundation.

To support agency initiatives to help break the cycles of violence and poverty, please mail cheques payable to The Family Centre, 401-393 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg,  MB  R3B 3H6.

Accreditation

 

The operations and services of The Family Centre are accredited.  This serves the needs of clients, creditors, the community in general and funding bodies by assuring that The Family Centre has met and maintained established, objective industry standards of operation and service.
